About me
Von Hill is a dynamic and engaging speaker with over 30 years of experience as a law enforcement leader, much of it in school law enforcement programs. His school safety and management program are the industry model for development and collaboration. Von has worked across the system as a law enforcement officer with experience in many roles, an educator in hundreds of classrooms to thousands of children, and in the community, a leader for children and families.
Von is a highly sought-after presenter who teaches across this nation topics of school law enforcement partnerships, where he has audiences of state, local, and community leaders, executives, and first-line professionals. Von is also a Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management Trainer leading school systems in conducting the threat assessment process. As an executive in his agency, he earned the distinct rank of captain and is the chief of judicial operations, managing the school resource officer unit.
Von enjoys traveling, camping, and spending time with family. He was born in Washington D.C., and raised in Virginia, where he lives in beautiful Fluvanna County. "At one point in my career, when life circumstances challenged me more than ever, I almost quit. I was a law enforcement officer, married with children, doing what I love, who found himself separated and a full-time single parent, and my passion for serving the community was compromised. It is said: "Sometimes in life you win and other times you learn" I didn't know it and I was about to learn a lot about life and myself. I knew it would be a tough decision to leave my job, I thoroughly enjoyed working with children and being in the schools as an SRO, and at this point, I was considering leaving my dream career in law enforcement.
Instead, I decided the situation I found myself in was not so much of a challenge; this was my opportunity.
The opportunity to create and better define who I was and what I wanted to do into a stronger me. To take all my worries and concerns for the future and cultivate them into motivation for success. Building up inside of me was a strategy to engage and cultivate inspiration about leadership and safety. Sharing with others how to persevere through tough times in life, and recognizing those moments as an opportunity for growth.
Today, I facilitate the change of traditional concepts for organizations. Through a sensible and efficient structure, I show them how to move the culture from its basic functioning to an industry-led thriving collaboration. Let's win together!”
